I'm pretty bored right now. I was going to work on my senior design paper but without the design, I can't write much. I've already written two pages of complete speculation because we don't have anything solid. Not to mention that i have no idea how to really write a technical paper of this magnitude. I try too hard to make it creative that I lose my ability to put facts and statistics and specifications on the page. Its not a bad thing, its just that I have no direction.
Then I was thinking I should start my signals homework, but it turns out that almost all of it is in the solution manual and I don't feel like copying it right now. I'll probably work on the one question that isn't in the manual this weekend and then copy the rest of it on Monday or something.
The only other thing I need to do is my last lab for analog filters. Its all MATLAB so I'm really not looking forward to it. And our TA sent out an e-mail that it is sort of difficult so I'm not happy about that. I think I'll go ahead and do the design portion now and maybe look at the MATLAB stuff and see if its as difficult as our TA made it sound. It'd be nice if its actually easier than she made it seem.
I bought the series of Firefly on DVD last week when it was on sale for *super* cheap. I just finished the last episode today. Then I watched Flash Forward and now I'm watching Fringe. Its a TV night. I love my shows.
The weather here is so nice. I shut of my AC and have the windows open. I'm doing laundry and its still cold in my apartment, which is glorious.
My diet is going extremely well. I'm down 2 pants sizes since I started. I've found a lot of food that's low points and still filling, which is awesome because next week I'll lose another point from my daily allowance. Turns out, Garden Burgers are pretty much the most amazing thing ever. I have some Dream Dinners that are low points as well. I had BBQ pulled pork tonight and last night and it's absolutely delicious. I also notice that I feel more awake. There's only a few times I find myself struggling not to fall asleep in class, which is mostly only my 7:30 AM class. Understandable, since no one can really stay awake in that class.
I filed last week for Intent to Graduate. Which is scary and amazing all at the same time. I'm nervous about finding a job, but I think with the work I've been doing that I'm qualified for a good job. At the Tau Beta Pi meeting, a lady from an internship company came by and said that GPA is actually really important because it means you want to learn and you can learn. Which makes me happy. I'm not particularly involved in anything but my grades are pretty darn good. I'm happy with them, at least. It made me very happy.
Homecoming game is this weekend: UCF vs Houston. Game's at noon so tailgating is breakfast and we're making Pumpkin Waffles! It's a recipe I found in the Splenda cookbook. Tomorrow night, I'll mix all the wet and dry ingredients separately so we can make them quickly, but the batter won't get too thick from sitting overnight.
That's about all. Yay, updates!

I hate all this nonsense controversy. Who really cares of Lady Gaga is a hermaphrodite or man or alien or whatever? Does she not have really awesome, ridiculous dirty songs? Yes, she does. Does she not put on amazing shows and wear clothes no one would ever think would good? Yes, she does. So what does it really matter? This world has become so centered on a person physical being vs. their identity when none of it means anything in the grand scheme of things.
I've been thinking a lot lately of some way to make a good argument about this and how people can relate to it in a different context. In Judaism, if a woman is Jewish and gives birth to a child, that child is, by Jewish law, considered Jewish-by-birth, even if the father is not Jewish. However, if this child grows up practicing, for example, Christianity, does the fact that they are born Jewish make them any less Christian? No, of course not.
We are who we choose to be. No one has the right to tell us who or what we are, or deny us the ability to identify with what we want. Its none of your business who I choose to be, nor is it any of my business who you choose to be. And being in the limelight does NOT mean you have to answer to the public. I hope this question about Lady Gaga is NEVER answered. Lady Gaga is an amazing performer and that's it. Period.
That's all about that. Just venting.
In other news... I just baked some Banana Chocolate Chip muffins. My apartment smells like delicious. But Yom Kippur is tomorrow so I have to eat up!
Two tests this week - Analog Filters on Tuesday and Electronics 1 on Wednesday. Taking off work on Tuesday to study because otherwise there's no time.
Can't wait for the premiere of SGU this Friday.
UCF Family Weekend is coming. My parents are coming to Late Knights Friday Night, Football game on Saturday. The weekend after that is my birthday weekend, so Josias is coming up to spend the weekend with me. There's a lot going on in the month of October!
Right now, I'm going to cook some dinner and eat a lot so I can make up for tomorrow.
We'll see when I get to update next.

"How Far Do You Wanna Go?" Gloriana |

Oh, the wonderful things I get from my mother.
On the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, there is a ceremony called Tashlich. Jews traditionally go to the ocean or a stream or river to pray and throw bread crumbs into the water. Symbolically, the fish devour their sins.
Occasionally, people ask what kind of bread crumbs should be thrown. Here are suggestions for breads which may be most appropriate for specific sins and misbehaviors:
For ordinary sins: White Bread For erotic sins: French Bread For particularly dark sins: Pumpernickel For complex sins: Multi-Grain For twisted sins: Pretzels For tasteless sins: Rice Cakes For sins of indecision: Waffles For sins committed in haste: Matzah For sins of chutzpah: Fresh Bread For substance abuse: Stoned Wheat For use of heavy drugs: Poppy Seed For petty larceny: Stollen For committing auto theft: Caraway For timidity/cowardice: Milk Toast For ill-temperedness: Sourdough For silliness, eccentricity: Nut Bread For not giving full value: Shortbread For jingoism, chauvinism: Yankee Doodles For excessive irony: Rye Bread For unnecessary chances: Hero Bread For telling bad jokes/puns: Corn Bread For war-mongering: Kaiser Rolls For dressing immodestly: Tarts For causing injury to others: Tortes For lechery and promiscuity: Hot Buns For promiscuity with gentiles: Hot Cross Buns For racist attitudes: Crackers For sophisticated racism: Ritz Crackers For being holier than thou: Bagels For abrasiveness: Grits For dropping in without notice: Popovers For over-eating: Stuffing For impetuosity: Quick Bread For indecent photography: Cheesecake For raising your voice too often: Challah For pride and egotism: Puff Pastry For sycophancy, ass-kissing: Brownies For being overly smothering: Angel Food Cake For laziness: Any long loaf For trashing the environment: Dumplings
For those who require a wide selection of crumbs, we suggest a Tashlich Mix available in three grades (Taslich Lite, Medium, and Industrial Strength) at your favorite Jewish bookstore.

I doubt many of you have heard of him, but I am obsessed with Scott Westerfeld. He's an author of a whole bunch of series and books that I luuuurve with passion.
I may seem like a dork when I say this, but I may be a dork so it's okay.
I read two of his trilogies and went on his website to find more of his books. I decided to write him an e-mail to tell him how much I loved his stories. After I write it, I didn't think much of it. I mean, I thought he was a pretty big writer- I found like 4 or 5 fansites for him and a bunch for his books. Today, I got an e-mail back from him. It wasn't even just a "Thanks for your support. Here's my next book. Hope you buy it." It was a serious, personalized, answered-all-of-my-points e-mail. I was shocked. I wrote back. I feel like I have a pen pal.
See? I told you I was a dork!
In any case, I went to the bookstore to try to get his other books, but they didn't have ANY of them. Amazon.com, here I come!
In any case, he writes the best books I've ever read. You all should seriously check them OUT!
